SharePoint Migration
The Challenge
More and more organizations are choosing to adopt SharePoint for its document management and collaborative platform, and SharePoint 2010 offers the richest set of features for these purposes. Consequentially, many organizations are upgrading from previous versions of SharePoint to SharePoint 2010 to be able to leverage these new features. However, the migration is often a painful and tedious process due to the following challenges:
- Typically a selective migration is needed where only certain portions of the old farm are migrated to the new farm, due to the large amount of stale, unused or irrelevant content that exists. It is difficult to identify exactly what needs to be migrated and keep track of what has been migrated successfully.
- Migration is more than moving content, and permissions must carefully be considered as well. Unless permission are very well structured and organized it can be hard to make sure users will have access to the resources they need when moving to the new farm.
The Solution
The StealthAUDIT Management Platform for SharePoint offers all of the necessary capabilities to help you with your SharePoint 2010 migration across:
- Content: Both the old and new farms can be analyzed to make sure the site hierarchy is intact for all site collections that have been migrated to the new farm and that the content within them is identical.
- Permissions: Both farms can be scanned and analyzed to ensure all users were successfully migrated to the new farm and that they have access to the necessary resources before the on-boarding process begins.
- Infrastructure: The new farm can be monitored throughout the process of going live to make sure that the farm is performing optimally
